Cops and drugs: Illicit drug abuse by police personnel

Aim: Patterns and prevalence of psychoactive drug use are unique in the professions vary by profession as well type practice (e.g., private/public), gender, career stage. In this study, we attempt to summarise results research over past decades on illegal substances law enforcement officers.Methodology: A literature search was performed PubMed, HeinOnline, GoogleScholar other relavant database (such US Department Justice) from their inception through April 2022.Findings: total, 26 studies met criteria. Research data clearly indicates that, addition alcohol smoking, drugs is also prevalent among police officers. Our review shows that illcit ranges widely (0,22% – 21,6%).
